v2.0

1. Our Commitment

Astro Atlas is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards to ensure our website is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users.

2. Conformance Status

The Astro Atlas website has been designed and developed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA success criteria. We aim to exceed this standard wherever possible.

We regularly audit our website using a combination of:

  • Automated accessibility testing tools (axe-core, Lighthouse)
  • Manual keyboard-only navigation testing
  • Screen reader testing (NVDA, VoiceOver)
  • Color contrast analysis
  • Assistive technology compatibility testing

3. Accessible Features

Our website includes the following accessibility features:

  • Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and ARIA attributes throughout all pages.
  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are operable using keyboard-only navigation with visible focus indicators.
  • Skip Links: "Skip to main content" links allow keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation.
  • Screen Reader Support: All images have descriptive alt text, form inputs have associated labels, and dynamic content changes are announced via ARIA live regions.
  • Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Responsive Design: Content adapts to all screen sizes without loss of information or functionality.
  • Motion Reduction: Animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion system preference.
  • Dark Mode: Full dark mode support with appropriate contrast ratios maintained across both light and dark themes.
  • Touch Targets: Interactive elements meet minimum 44×44px touch target sizes for mobile users.
  • Form Accessibility: All forms include proper labels, error messages, and validation feedback accessible to assistive technologies.

4. Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some accessibility limitations may exist. We are actively working to address these:

  • Some third-party embedded content (maps, videos) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. We select third-party providers with the best accessibility support available.
  • Older browser versions may not fully support all accessibility features. We recommend using the latest version of modern browsers.
  • Some images from external sources may have limited alt text quality. We review and improve alt text on an ongoing basis.

5. Remediation Efforts

We are committed to ongoing accessibility improvements. Our current roadmap includes:

  • Quarterly accessibility audits by both automated tools and manual testers
  • Integration of accessibility checks into our continuous integration (CI) pipeline
  • Staff training on accessible content creation and web development best practices
  • Regular review of new WCAG standards and draft specifications for proactive compliance

6. Feedback and Contact
